Dear brothers and sisters, many years ago, when I was small I used to accompany my parents to dargaahs (musolium) in India. We took with us flowers, fruits, food, money etc as gifts to the dead and prayed to them. Sometimes we would ask them to deliver our prayers to ALLAH and at other times we bowed to them and asked them directly. We spend hours in there and then came home expecting that our prayers will be answered. Now, years later by the grace and mercy of Allah , and by reading and understanding Qur’an I have realized that such a practice is not approved by Allah and dear brothers and sisters I am not saying this on my own accord. I have actually copied down the verses of qur’an that clearly indicate that such a practice is disliked by Allah. My heart pains when I reflect on how I associated the servants of Allah with Allah. However pious a servant of Allah maybe and however close he may be to Allah because of his righteous deeds, he still is a servant of Allah and Allah is The Owner, The Creator. To associate this servant of Allah with Allah is SHIRK. May Allah forgive me and my family and muslim ummah and show us the right path, Ameen. (Author)
